Reflecting on 2025: A Year of Resilience and Transition

ceo message

As 2025 comes to a close, Coalition Health Zambia (CHZ) reflects with appreciation on a year
marked by partnership, re-learning, re-strategizing, re-modelling, and steady progress in
supporting Zambia’s health and development priorities.
This year, CHZ strengthened governance and internal systems during the transition from John
Snow Health (JSH) to Coalition Health Zambia, positioning the organization to engage more
effectively with government, communities, donors, and implementing partners.
Earlier in the year, CHZ navigated shifts in the funding landscape and closed four USAID-
supported projects: CHEKUP II, ZAM-Health, eSCMIS, and GLS. These changes challenged us
but also reinforced our resilience, adaptability, and commitment to our mission. By leveraging
strong partnerships, practicing prudent stewardship, and focusing on learning and innovation,
CHZ maintained operational stability and pursued new opportunities aligned with national
priorities and community needs.
CHZ collaborated with the Ministry of Health to drive demand creation and community
engagement, participating in key Technical Working Groups (TWGs) to strengthen service
uptake and community involvement. The Health TWG, operating under the Public–Private
Dialogue Forum (PPDF), appointed CHZ as a member, enabling us to actively contribute to
cross-sector dialogue and collaboration beyond health.
We invested in capacity building for community-level actors, conducted learning and reflection
sessions to improve programming, and joined partners in planning and coordination to enhance
alignment, efficiency, and sustainability. We also amplified communication and visibility efforts
to share knowledge, promote accountability, and strengthen stakeholder engagement.
Working with UNICEF, UNAIDS, and the Ministry of Health, CHZ expanded programming for
adolescents, young people, and young mothers, using inclusive, community-centred approaches
to meet the needs of vulnerable populations.
Across all activities, CHZ prioritised collaboration, shared leadership, and alignment with
national strategies, understanding that sustainable impact comes from collective action.
Looking ahead, CHZ will deepen local and regional partnerships, diversify opportunities, and
contribute to resilient systems that improve outcomes for communities across Zambia. We thank
our stakeholders for their trust and partnership and look forward to continuing this journey
together.

Best wishes for the New Year, and may we continue to positively impact the lives of fellow
citizens across the country and beyond.
